Mbarara Hospital Boss receives Presidential Award for outstanding service

Mbarara, (UG):- The Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has hailed Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) boss Dr Celestine Barigye for his visionary leadership whose impact is not only felt at the institution he heads but across the region.

“With immense pride, the UMA presents this Award to Dr Celestine Barigye recognizing his outstanding contributions in the Collaborative Excellence Award for Institution Heads Category”, Dr Asphas Owaraganise said while presenting the award to him on behalf of UMA.

The Association hailed Dr Barigye as one of few Heads of Institution who has been instilling a culture of excellence amongst the cadres that he leads and has been living an exemplary life by encouraging fellow doctors to follow Hypocrites’ rules to the dot.

“We thank him (Dr Barigye) for his commitment to the healthcare and mentorship of junior health workers!”, Dr Robert Mukembo, a Member of the Uganda Medical Association comments on X.

In these contemporary times when the ‘business mind’ is vying against medicine as a calling, it becomes challenging for young Medics to concentrate on saving a life.

Averting such sinister vices may not entirely require punitive measures but preaching mindset change, especially among the fresh medics who view medicine as a lucrative venture.

According to the staff at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, their director has been inculcating the culture of furthering studies among them.

This explains why most medics at this facility have attained more qualifications to prepare for more opportunities and acquire skills in healthcare care delivery.

While receiving the Presidential Award, Dr Barigye thanked UMA Management for the recognition. He said that such awards are very important in one’s career, especially for young cadres.

However, he asked the Medical Fraternity to continue following standard operations procedures while dealing with patients.
