NRM’s Amanya elected new MUBS Guild President

Kampala, (UG):- The National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, Moses Amanya has been elected the 27th guild president of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) after clinching an outstanding victory in a closely contested three-man race.

Amanya whose chances to win the election were electrified with the dismissal of MUBS’ favourite Juma Wasswa Balunywa, polled a resounding 1685 votes in the Friday election to emerge winner, marking a significant shift in the political landscape of the prestigious institution.

Two other candidates who closely followed Amanya for the much-coveted position were; Steward Chopre of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who garnered 1268 votes, while Luswata Benedict of the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) trailed behind.

The atmosphere on campus was electrifying as students eagerly awaited the results, reflecting the intense anticipation surrounding this pivotal election.

Amanya’s victory showcases a strong mandate from the student body and also comes after several unsuccessful attempts by the NRM to secure the guild presidency over the years, making this win a momentous occasion for the party.

The victory also signals a new chapter in the MUBS student leadership, promising fresh perspectives and initiatives under the NRM banner.
