Iganga, (UG):- Shock and grief engulfed residents of Busei B Village, Nakalama Sub County in Iganga District after a businessman dealing in plastics and liquid soap was hacked to death with an axe on the night of Monday, March 25, 2024, by yet-to-be-identified perpetrators.

Twinomugisha Ronald, 35, who was dealing in the soap-making business for over 2 years in the area, reportedly came from Western Uganda before settling in Busei village for business-related activities.

The chairperson of Busei B Village, Mr Waiswa Gozani told DailyExpress that the deceased had three new workers in the house, whom he had been recruiting to help with work, adding that the body of the deceased was found in the compound and the house appeared to have been searched by the perpetrators before leaving the scene of crime.

“…We found him in a pool of blood and we suspect that he was hacked to death using an axe. He had three new workers and they were making liquid soap the whole of yesterday (Monday) but none of them have been sighted again,” Mr Waiswa said.

“The things in the house including the documents were disorganized and we suspect that these workers removed all documents which the deceased has been asking for before employing them,” he added.

“We have learnt that he has been asking for National IDs and passport-size photos from his workers, and authorities were unable to recover any copy of the documents,” Mr Waiswa stated.

One of the residents, Mr Wambuzi Muhammad Kamwogo revealed that they learnt about the death of the man after the unanswered calls directed to him by one of the people he has been working with and this prompted the locals to move inside the perimeter wall where he rented before landing on his lifeless body in the compound.

Police were notified about the incident and items of evidence value were collected from the scene including an axe which was allegedly used to cut him. The body of the deceased was found in a short, something which has left questions to the public but preliminary inquiries indicate that he was clobbered from inside the house since the scene indicates some resistance.

Busoga East police spokesperson SSP Diana Nandawula has confirmed the incident saying police have mounted the hunt for four people suspected to have some information regarding the killing. The four people have been working with the deceased person (Twinomugisha Ronald).

“We have started hunting for four men whose identities are yet to be established. They are suspected to have information about the death of a 35-year-old businessman who was residing in Busei B village, Nakalama Sub County in Iganga,” SSP Nandawula said.

She said the deceased’s body was found with two deep wounds on the head and police managed to retrieve the axe and it was exhibited, however, police say the deceased recently hired people to help him in making liquid soap but the said persons escaped in the night purportedly after the tragic incident.
