Thugs rob shs30m from Chinese nationals on Kampala street

Kampala, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Kampala are investigating an aggravated robbery against two Chinese nationals and a Ugandan worker in which cash amounting to 30 million shillings was stolen by yet-to-be-identified thugs.

ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan confirmed the incident saying that the thugs, five in number robbed the victims at Royal Plaza on Lumum Street in Kampala, the country’s capital.

The robbers, according to Owoyesigyire, armed with machetes, targeted Zhang Danbing and Gu Xuchu, owners of Kyoga Textile Company Limited, along with their employee Ouma Duncan.

They reportedly tied up the victims and stole Shs 30 million, 1,000 USD, passports, four phones, a laptop, and a DVR decoder.

“The large sum of cash on hand likely made the victims a target. We urge businesses to deposit cash in banks and prioritize security measures, such as guards, for after-hours operations,” Owoyesigire said.

“We have secured ropes, a panga, a bag containing burglary tools, and empty sacks as evidence. DNA samples will be collected to aid the investigation,” he added.
