Manafwa mourns passing of NRM district registrar John Wasike

Manafwa, (UG):- NRM voters in Manafwa District are in sorrow following the death of Mr John Wasike Malomo, the ruling party’s Registrar who passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

The news of Wasike’s passing was revealed by the outgoing Manafwa District Youth Chairperson for NRM Youth League, Mr. Butsatsa Simon through a social media post on his Facebook Page.

“So saddened with your sudden death Papa Johnson Wasike Malomo who has been the Manafwa district Election Officer for NRM Party, Chairman Banekesa Clan and Chairperson Manafwa Town Council Business Community,” Butsatsa posted.

He added, “We shall always remember you for your exemplary hard work, generosity, mentorship and inspiration politically and economically. May God rest your soul in eternal peace”.

In an exclusive phone interview with DailyExpress, Butsatsa told this publication today that the late died after a short illness of malaria, which resulted in a rise in his diabetes and hypertension levels.

He eventually succumbed to his illness at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital upon referral from a private clinic in Bubulo.

Wasike’s untimely death comes at a time when the NRM Party had just concluded updating its voters’ register Nationwide. Butsatsa said the late “successfully supervised the update of the register in Manafwa and last week was doing his work normally.”

Apart from holding a number of leadership positions in Manafwa, Butsatsa said, “Wasike has been one of the top entrepreneurs and was the leading events service provider. He has also been the chairman of the business community in Manafwa Town Council”.

Meanwhile, business in Manafwa Town Council today (Wednesday) came to a standstill as the community received Wasike’s body which was brought in A-Plus Fenural Services, from Mbale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary, where the body had been for postmortem.

DailyExpress has understood that the late NRM boss will be laid to rest on Friday 19th April 2024 at his ancestral home in Namutembi, Bubulo, Manafwa District.
