Kampala, (UG):- Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Wednesday held talks with a military delegation from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) in a high-profile meeting held at UPDF Barracks and Amry Headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala.
The RDF delegation was led by Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, the Rwandan Army Chief of Staff, to the meeting which according to the CDF office “focused on bilateral and regional security matters.”
The meeting also emphasised that “such engagements are routine and form part of ongoing security dialogues between Uganda and Rwanda.”
Gen Muhoozi has been emphasising the need to strengthen military cooperation between Uganda and Rwanda to address regional conflicts, cross-border crimes and terrorism.
In 2022, Muhoozi spearheaded efforts to revitalise relations between the countries which had been strained by counter-accusations of espionage and support of armed movements in the region.
Wednesday’s meeting was graced by Uganda’s Chief of Defense Intelligence and Security (DIS), Major General James Birungi.
