Mpigi, (UG):- At least three people died on the spot and one other occupant sustained critical injuries following a road crash at Kameng in Mpigi along the Masaka-Kampala highway.
The 11:40 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, involved two motor vehicles a Mitsubishi and a Subaru Forester at Ayanguwa swamp along the busy highway according to Traffic police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura.
“The territorial traffic police in Mpigi yesterday night at around 11:40 pm on the 17-04-2024 registered a fatal crash in Kamengo at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp along Masaka-kampala highway. The crash involved two M/Vs UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso & UBH 247L Subaru Forester,” SP Kananura said in a Thursday police statement.
According to the Traffic PRO, the driver of the Mitsubishi Fuso was headed to Masaka from Kampala when he collided with the Subaru Forester coming from the opposite direction killing instantly 03 occupants in the Subaru car and critically injuring 01 other passenger.
He added that the victim was rushed to double cure in Mpigi for medical attention while the bodies were conveyed to Gombe Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
By Press time on Thursday morning, the identities of the deceased were to be established, but police had towed away the wreckage of the vehicles as investigations into the incident take centre stage.
