Agencies, (Turkey):- Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Director General, Dr Celestine Barigye has come to address reports surrounding his medical condition after photos of him in Turkey surfaced online, drawing public attention, especially in Mbarara, his place of work.
Dr Barigye was last publicly seen on Easter Monday, April 2nd, 2024 in Bushenyi at his thanksgiving mass led by His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha, the Archbishop of Mbarara and attended by different dignitaries from local and central government.
A few days after the event, the Mbarara Hospital boss flew to Turkiye for a medical review following the brain tumor operation he underwent at the beginning of last year at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
According to his wife Mrs Ruth Barigye, Dr Barigye was able to reunite with medical experts at Medicana Hospital and the outcomes are appeasing.
On one of her WhatsApp groups, Mrs Barigye extended her gratitude to all well-wishers as she condemned misinformation.
DailyExpress understands that Dr Barigye, (a decorated medical expert who has been at the helm of Mbarar Hospital’s soaring growth), is undergoing scheduled clinical reviews as an outpatient because his condition doesn’t require admission according to doctors.
Speaking to this website, Dr Barigye commended his family and wife Mrs Ruth Birungi for showing resilience in the past times.
He added that he is grateful to his dear wife Mrs Ruth who has stood by his side at the time when he needs her most. He also thanked his Ministry of Health bosses for good to him. He also encouraged people to seek solace in God as he appreciated the men and women of God for keeping him in their prayers.
On social media stories which have been circulating, Barigye described these as malicious and encouraged social media users to use their platforms productively.
He also encouraged the Mbarara Hospital community to disregard any unsolicited talks but continue working with the administration to achieve higher and uphold their vision, mission and institution’s core values
Asked about the current situation, Dr Barigye said that there’s a great improvement adding that with doctors’ and friends’ support, he will soon resume his duties in the coming months.
Dr Barigye is the current Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital the institution he has led to explore greater heights. With his administration, he has unequivocally advocated for better healthcare services in the region through constant lobbying.
On several occasions, he has passionately spoken on the elevation of Mbarara RRH to a national referral hospital. The hospital is currently the only regional referral offering specialized and super-specialized services.
