Bagisu gear up for third edition of Kadodi Karnival, dates unveiled

Kampala, (UG):- Bamasaaba in Kampala and all over the country are gearing up for the 3rd edition of the Kadodi Karnival set to take place on 4th May 2024, at UMA Showgrounds in Lugogo, a Kampala suburb.

Kadodi Karnival is a cultural festival that was created by the Kimaru Foundation to basically export the Bagisu Culture to other parts of the Country and World at large. The event targets the Bagisu in the diaspora in the company of their friends to celebrate their rich history and to identify the uniqueness vested in their cultural dances, delicacies and dressing among others.

According to Magret Kisaale, “the Pilsner Sponsored event is to headline artists like Cindy Sanyu, “Khaukha” a renowned Lumasaba Musician and poet, Titus Vybes born Kidasa Titus, Bugisu’s legendary musician Iddi Masaba.

Also set to perform are Suzan Wetsetse and Teba Sayyid aka Papa Lova a dynamic Dancehall artist renowned for chart-toppers like “Sonya” and “Nadyako”.

Titus Vybes posted on his Social Media page Facebook, “After so many years of your requests and demand, I’m thrilled to announce that I will finally be performing at this year’s Kadodi Karnival on May 4th at UMA Show grounds! Get ready for an unforgettable experience, because we are going to make some magic together”.

The host of this year’s Karnival, is Jabbi Masumba Gimei, an advocate for Africanacity, born and raised in Mbale from Buyobo, Sironko District. A Radio guru and filmmaker, Jabbi embodies the essence of storytelling. Currently serving as a Multimedia Specialist at Nishosho Lundi and continues to amplify African narratives through various mediums.

The first and second editions of the Festival took place on 7th May 2022 and 7th May 2023 respectively. The event organisers have been hailed for their consistency in planning and hosting the event.

Kimaru Foundation is a nonprofit organisation that was established to develop communities through the promotion of cultures in Uganda.

The foundation is driven by the conviction that culture if analysed, is a resource and the basis for sustainable development. It is intended to have the different communities and cultures on the global map through marketing, particularly, their way of life so that tourists take interest in visiting them.
