TikToker Musana accused of abusing Museveni, Kabaka, finally granted bail

Kampala, (UG):- Buganda Road Court has granted bail to Ibrahim Musana, also known as Pressure 24-7, a TikTok accused of posting and sharing information that ridiculed and promoted hostility against the Kabaka and President Museveni.

Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi released Musana from Luzira Prison early Monday morning after he spent the mandatory 60 days on remand before the beginning of the trial.

“I am of the view that when an accused person has clocked the mandatory period on remand, court can only set bail conditions.  It (court) cannot adjourn the case for any other purpose because an accused person can be released on his own cognizance,” Kayizzi observed.

Court also barred Musana from mentioning the name of the Kabaka, President of Uganda, Parliament Speaker Anita Among and Minister Joyce Sebugwawo on his social media handles until the case is completed.

“Should you mention them, your bail will be cancelled,” he added.

Musana had been remanded after he was charged with cases related to promoting hate speech and spreading malicious information.

He presented his two aunties as sureties whom the court allowed and considered that he should be granted bail, worth shs2m in cash.

Case Background

According to court documents, it is alleged that between August 2023 and February 2024 in areas of Kampala District, while using a computer via his Tik-Tok account identified as Pressure 24/7, Musana shared information which is likely to degrade or demean and promote hostility against four leaders including Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among and State Minister for Information Communication Technology Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo.

Court documents indicate that several people lodged complaints against Musana including Jennifer Nakanguubi alias Full Figure.
