Babalanda donates 150 bags of cement to Buyende School after Express story

Buyende, (UG):- The Minister for Presidency, who is also eyeing for Budiope West Constituency seat, Hon Babirye Milly Babalanda has donated 150 bags of cement to Namusita Seed School in Buyende sub-county, Buyende district to support  them in constructing girls’ dormitory at the school  

The minister’s donation comes after a viral video and story run by this publication which showed how students were hiring nearby grass-thatched houses as dormitories.

The video attracted the minister to come up and save the girls who were lamenting and today delivered the contingent of cement to the school authorities through the Resident District Officer of Buyende, Rt Major Akello Betty who thanked her for fulfilling the pledge she made during her visit to  buyende district

“This donation is a sign of commitment to ensure good education in Buyende district so we need to thank Hon Babalanda for that,” Maj Akello said, before breaking the ground for the construction of the dormitory at the school.

Meanwhile, Mr Dyson Bwiire the District Education Officer of Buyende district said that “the construction will start having received the cement because they already have more than ten thousand bricks on site”.

He also asked for support from other stakeholders.

The function was attended by all district leaders, parents, students and other well-wishers.
