How Apac Health worker was netted with medical supplies stolen from govt hospital

Apac, (UG):- Authorities in northern Uganda’s Apac District are actively investigating a troubling case involving a volunteer health worker accused of stealing vital medical supplies from Apac Government Hospital.

The unnamed female nurse, whose identity has been withheld, is currently in police custody following her arrest on Saturday. The arrest came about thanks to a concerned citizen who alerted authorities about suspicious activities related to the theft of medical supplies from the hospital.

Joan Apio, the Apac Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), swiftly responded to the tip-off and took decisive action to apprehend the alleged perpetrator.

Acting on the information received, law enforcement intercepted a boda-boda rider who was reportedly hired to transport the stolen medical supplies out of the hospital premises.

Upon further investigation, police recovered a significant quantity of stolen items, including syringes, dozens of pairs of scissors, and various drugs, underscoring the severity of the theft and its potential impact on healthcare delivery in the region.

Authorities have assured the public that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the extent of the theft and identify any accomplices involved.

Measures are also being put in place to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, including enhancing security protocols and implementing stricter inventory management procedures.
