Castle Lite signs shs500m partnership with Uganda’s National Basketball League

Kampala, (UG):- Castle Lite Beer, a flagship product of Nile Breweries Limited has announced a one-year sponsorship deal with the National Basketball League (NBL) worth 500 million Uganda shillings.

The mega partnership was launched on Thursday, May 8th, at a ceremony attended by stakeholders from the basketball community.

According to Mr Karema Douglas, the NBL Marketing Executive, the sponsorship deal is aimed at supporting the growth and development of basketball in Uganda. 

“We are thrilled to have Castle Lite on board as our title sponsor. This partnership will go a long way in promoting the sport and providing opportunities for our players to compete at the highest level,” Douglas said.

As part of the deal, 200 million shillings will be dispersed to the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) to cover operational costs and provide incentives for FUBA officials and personnel. The remaining balance will be shared among the clubs participating in the NBL.

On his part, Marcus Kwikiriza, the CEO of FUBA, expressed his gratitude to Castle Lite for their support. “We are grateful for the trust that Castle Lite has placed in us. This sponsorship will enable us to improve the quality of our league and provide better resources for our players and officials,” he said.

Mr Kwikiriza added that the FUBA Executive Committee (EXCOM) will meet with the clubs to discuss how they will benefit from the sponsorship deal. “We will work together to ensure that the sponsorship is utilized effectively and that all clubs benefit from this partnership.”

The sponsorship deal is a significant milestone for the NBL, which has been growing in popularity in recent years. With the support of Castle Lite, the league is expected to reach new heights and provide a platform for Ugandan basketball players to shine.

In a statement, Castle Lite said that they are committed to supporting the development of sports in Uganda and are excited to be part of the NBL’s growth journey.
