Police hunt for man for killing brother over rice money

Bugiri, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Bugiri District, eastern Uganda is actively investigating a case of murder regarding an 18-year-old male adult who was reportedly discovered dead in the house on Thursday morning.

The victim identified as Tumwesige Shadrack, 18, was found dead in the house in West Nile Zone, Mayuge town council in Bugiri district, but his brother, Ayub Mukisa (the prime suspect) was reportedly at large.

Police Spokesperson in Busoga East, SSP Diana Nandawula confirmed the incident and told DailyExpress that a manhunt is already underway to have him apprehended and assist police with the ongoing investigations.

“We are hunting for Mukisa Ayub after suspecting him to know about the death of his brother Tumwesige Shadrack, 18, who are residents OF West Nile zone, Mayuge town council in Bugiri district. It is alleged that the two were residing in the same house,” SSP Nandawula said.

Preliminary investigations by police suggest that the duo recently sold their rice and it is reported that they got a misunderstanding in the night resulting from the money which they received after selling rice.

“It is alleged that the two sold their rice and it is reported that they got a misunderstanding in the night and one killed the other.  We suspect that this was as a result of misunderstanding around the money which was got from rice,” SSP Nandawula said.

By press time, the body of Tumwesige was taken to Bugiri district hospital for autopsy as a hunt for Mukisa goes on to help police with information surrounding the death of his brother.
