Kamuli, (UG):- The President and Founder of the newly formed political pressure group dubbed the Eastern Revolutionary Platform (ERP) ‘Gen’ Moses Bigirwa has finally opened up on his election bid come 2026 as the news of his alleged breakaway from the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) continue to make headlines in the Busoga region.

While addressing the media on Friday at Sama Restaurant in Kamuli Municipality, Mr Bigirwa who is currently on suspension as the NUP Deputy Secretary for Mobilization in the Eastern region confirmed that in the next general election, he will not contest for the president seat but instead come all-out for the Kamuli Municipality MP seat which he lost in the previous elections to Kayanga Baroda.

“Many people have said that I would contest for president because I have started up a pressure group but that is not true. In the 2026 general elections, I will contest for Kamuli municipality member of parliament seat because am the only suitable candidate who can play the political cards on an international level”; Bigirwa stated.

He also revealed that the pressure he leads (ERP) has now embarked on the formation of leadership structures which will help in mobilising people to join their cause for change. He therefore asked the elected leaders to encourage other people to join their group.

“This is just the start; We shall make more structures from the village level to the top as we cause for change. I argue you look for more members to join our group because the time for a change in the top leadership of the country is and it starts with you and me.”

Mr Bigirwa further tasked more political leaders from eastern Uganda to join ERP arguing that for so long, Eastern Uganda has been marginalised when it comes to national service delivery yet it has more vibrant politicians who have contributed to the development of the country.

“I argue you join us because as eastern Uganda we have been marginalised because we don’t have top leadership. We should fight together such that the next president comes from eastern Uganda”; he said.

Mr Francis Adepo, the Secretary General of ERP and who doubles as the chairperson youth league in Forum for democratic change FDC told DailYExpress that the new structures will help them to seek more support from other political parties.

The newly elected committee of the platform is headed by Kagoda Witber as the chairperson, Musasizi Fred as the vice chairperson, the spokesperson is Kitimbo Brian, and Babisi Godfrey as the assistant spokesperson among others.

On behalf of the elected leaders Mr Babisi, the assistant spokesperson of ERP in Kamuli Municipality said that now their next project is to mobilise people to join them for change. “Our role is to look for people and teach them our ideologies,” he said.
