Zombo, (UG):- Alur Kingdom and Political leaders in Zombo District have heaped blessings and pledged their support to the homecoming event of the crowned Queen of West Nile Beauty Pageantry, Ms Patricia Alobo.

Ms Alobo is a subject of the Alur Kingdom and hails from Paidha Town Council in West Nile’s Zombo District.

Acting in line with the international protocols of the organization of Peagentry, the organizing committee for the homecoming event to celebrate and officially launch activities of QUEEN Alobo have engineered several activities such as free health services, Tree planting, keep Paidha clean campaign, cultural, agricultural and food exhibitions.

Not only that, but also traditional dances, art and craft exhibitions are all to be executed from the  27th to 28th of July, 2024 at Bar OKORO Stadium to mobilize resources for the Queen’s interest in promoting girl child education and sports tourism in the West Nile region.

These activities aim to salvage some 21st-century challenges faced by the population in Zombo district through promoting healthy living, environmental protection, cultural preservation, Marketing of agricultural products and social networking to build synergy.

During a maiden press conference held in Paidha town council, Mr Sam Kumakech, Director of Information, Youths and Sports at Alur Kingdom pronounced the support of the kingdom and attested to the will of the King in promoting such developments.

“We are going to back up this developmental activity because this is what our King sent us to do keep in partnership with any developmental activity and this is associated with cultural preservation and other activities that promote culture,” Kumakech remarked during an exclusive interview with DailyExpress.

Top on the agenda of the Crowned Queen Patricia is promoting girl child education, nurturing a holistic generation of the girl child and addressing less prioritized bedrock challenges faced by the girl child most outstandingly menstrual hygiene through Skilling and provision of reusable sanitary pads for girls aged from 13 years old in the pilot six districts of west Nile region with Zombo inclusive.

Mr Francis Adriko, The team leader of the Westnile Beauty Pageantry articulated his optimism about the service output of  Queen Alobo as he noted the Vast involvement and influence of the Queen in Northern Uganda,

“I am optimistic about Queen Patricia delivering on her interest for west Nile because she is so influential to the extent that she has been engaged in activities to mobilize resources in other areas like Gulu already,” Adriko iterated in a press conference on Saturday,22 June 2024.

It’s also worth noting that the utmost will and zeal of area political leaders in Zombo district to leverage Queen Patricia to deliver their dreams of popularizing the local cultural and religious sites in the West Nile region to position the region on the world map given its much unique but less publicized scenic features.

Mr Innocent Onega, the LC3 chairperson of Paidha Town Council who spoke to this publication iterated on the tourism potential of West Nile and Northern Uganda but attributed the innominal tourism activities to bad publicity about Northern Uganda and West Nile Region, not any island at all.

“People have negative publicity about Northern Uganda as a whole when you talk about the Westnile region they look at the rebel group Westnile Bank Front when you talk about the Northern region they look at Kony and Lakwena it’s upon us to market Northern Uganda and Westnile region positively……..,” said Onega.

Domestic Tourism in the West Nile region suffers from poor attitude from the population, inadequate media documentation, publicity and cultural limitations associating sites with the ancestors and demonizing some hotcake cultural sites hence restricting locals from embracing local tourism as they bow to doctrines of churches.

Ms Patricia Alobo, Queen of Westnile Beauty pageantry attested to the appealing attitude towards domestic tourism in Westnile region,”..we have people within Westnile Region but they have not taken time to visit tourism sites places like Biko which is the smallest church in the world and its not known we only speak about it in West Nile it is our role to market to other people and the world,” Alobo noted.

The Westnile Beauty Peagentry which is not anything different from the Westnile Miss Tourism Peagentry uniquely only focuses on promoting local and traditional cultural and religious sites in the West Nile region.
