Police okays FDC digital registration launch in Bugisu

Police have approved the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) digital registration launch set for Saturday, 29th June at Mbale Cricket Grounds.

Elgon Region Police Spokesman Rogers Taitika confirms that following a meeting between the Police and the leadership of the Forum for Democratic Change party, they have agreed that the launch of the digital registration exercise in the Bugisu Sub-region will be peacefully organized.

Taitika says that the FDC digital registration launch should not interfere with the normal operations of business in Mbale City.

According to Mr Taitika, since there were no altercations with FDC in last week’s launch in the Teso Sub-region, they expect similar cooperation at the Bugisu launch.

Mbale City FDC Chairperson Hajji Masa Musa says they have also agreed with Police that a drive where senior party leaders will snake into Mbale City will start at Namunsi junction in Northern City Division and end up at Mbale Cricket Ground.

Masa also revealed that they have agreed with police that activities like general cleanup of Mbale City will all be done on Saturday and not Friday as earlier planned.
