Rugby Cranes Sevens Team announced for Mauritius Africa Cup

Uganda Rugby Cranes Sevens team prepared to embark on their journey to the Mauritius Africa Cup. A new chapter unfolds for the squad, bolstered by the inclusion of seasoned players Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Desire Ayera, Isaac Massa, and Denis Etwau.

These stalwarts replace William Nkore, Roy Kizito, Timothy Mugisha, and Allan Olango, who have been rested following their efforts at the Monaco tournament.

The decision to inject experience into the squad underscores Uganda’s ambitions in the fiercely contested tournament. Led by captain Ian Munyani, the team comprises a blend of raw talent and seasoned prowess.

Pius Ogena, Philip Wokorach, and Alex Aturinda bring their established skills to the fore, complemented by the dynamic playmaking abilities of Desire Ayera and Aaron Ofoyrwoth.

Coach Tolbert Onyango, alongside Physio Samuel Asiimwe and Strength & Conditioning Coach Allan Otim, has meticulously crafted a strategy to harness the team’s strengths.

The management, spearheaded by Team Manager Michael Wandera, ensures that logistics are seamless as the squad prepares to face formidable opponents.

The Mauritius Africa Cup promises high-octane action, with nations vying for supremacy in the fast-paced sevens format. Uganda, seeded with optimism, aims to make a resounding statement in this international arena.

Their journey begins with a sense of purpose, departing on Thursday morning with sights set on conquering the challenges ahead.

“This tournament is a test of our preparation and unity,” remarked Coach Tolbert Onyango. “We are ready to showcase the spirit of Ugandan rugby and compete at the highest level.”
