Entebbe, (UG):– President Museveni’s Bazzukulu in Entebbe and Greater Wakiso Region have endorsed Jajja w’abazzukulu to stand yet again for another term as President come 2026 if they are to continue benefiting from NRM’s wealth creation initiatives.
The revelation came Thursday, June 27, as Museveni’s Senior Presidential Advisor and Political Head at the Office of the National Chairman, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye joined the thousands of Bazzukulu at Entebbe Muslim Grounds in a mega empowerment drive aimed at uplifting residents from abject poverty.
Addressing a multitude of youths and women who turned up for the day, Hajjat Namyalo thanked the Bazzukulu for loving the President and Mama Janet Museveni, and that they sent her to deliver startup capital tools to enable them get started with something small as they wait for official government programmes such as PDM, Emyooga, Youth Livelihood Funds, etc, which are marred with a lot of bureaucracy.
“As you wait for the government programmes set up for poverty alleviation, I asked the President and well wishers to join me in the immediate fight against poverty by giving out tools that can enable anyone from the low income earners to get started with something they’re skilled into,” Namyalo said, before launching the handover of the items.
Among the items given out to over 100 youth and women groups on the day included fishing nets, water life jackets, gumboots for mainly fishermen and fish traders, hair dryers, hair cutting machines, popcorn and chips frying machines, poultry chicks and their feeds, to mention.
Hajjat Namyalo urged the beneficiaries of the items to utilize them to their full benefit, and that those who dare to sell them off will be held accountable as ONC coordinators and local leaders will be doing a follow up.
On the same day, two Boda boda youth groups (Entebbe and Wakiso Boda-boda leaders Sacco) were boosted with a special package from the ONC powered by Honda by Markh Investments boss, Ms Mariam Namusoke, as they received two brand new honda motorcycles from the ONC Boss to help them improve their livelihoods in form of rotational ownership and rides.
Hajjat Namyalo thanked the Bazzukulu for turning up in such large numbers for the empowerment drive, which she revealed was chosen for 27th June as a dedication to Mama Janet Museveni’s birthday which fell on Monday, June 24.
“Thank you Mama Janet Museveni for honoring this good day to Wakiso District celebrating your birthday ,and Jajja Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa for the self empowerment you have availed to the People of Wakiso,” said Namyalo, adding that however much there were sone hiccups towards the end of handing over of items, at least 90% of the registered groups walked away with items to go and start the journey out of poverty.
“Mama Janet Kataha Museveni, our dear mother, the mother of this mighty nation, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the grandfather of this nation, we have delivered all the stuff you gave us. We have equipped the people of Wakiso,” she added.
The atmosphere at the grounds was electric, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the support received. “This sewing machine will allow me to start my own tailoring business and provide for my family,” said one of the recipients, beaming with excitement.
The self-empowerment drive according to Hajjat Namyalo is set to spread across Wakiso district, with Busiro, Kasangati, Nansana and Kira municipalities lined up.
“Those who have not benefited, kindly be patient. Today we have launched in Entebbe, but we’re coming to other areas of Wakiso, in Busiro we’re coming, we have Kasangati, Nansana and Kira, all on our list,” Namyalo said.
“This initiative is a testament to our dedication to improving the lives of Ugandans. By providing these tools, we are enabling our people to become self-sufficient and contribute to the nation’s development,” she added.
The Bazzukulu empowerment programme is part of a broader strategy by ONC under the guidance of Jajja Kaguta Museveni through SPA Namyalo to bolster economic independence and resilience among Ugandans as envisioned by him, the NRM National Chairman.
As the event concluded, Namyalo reiterated the ongoing support from the NRM leadership, assuring the community of continuous efforts to address their needs and reminded them to continue supporting Jajja who is coming back on the ballot come 2026.
