Mayuge, (UG):- The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) Saturday visited eastern Uganda’s Mayuge District where it extended the now-popular self-empowerment gospel and equipped President Museveni’s Bazzukulu with startup capital tools to aid themselves out of poverty and improve their livelihoods.

The ONC Spokesperson, Mr Kintu Moses who represented Chief Muzzukulu and ONC Manager SPA Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye at the function on Saturday, June 29, rallied the members of Buggade SACCO to embrace the Musevenomics gospel of wealth creation for socio-economic transformation.

Bugadde SACCO’s 19 years of service in Eastern Uganda had organized a fundraising event under the theme “Bugadde Eyake” aiming to install street lights in Bugadde sub-county. The SACCO mobilized the community of Mayuge under the theme Bugadde Eyake aiming at providing street lights in the Bugadde Sub-county.

While addressing the Bazzukulu gathered at the grounds on the afternoon, Mr Kintu conveyed Hajjat’s apologies for not attending the event in person but revealed that she made the contribution of five street lights, adding to the various capital items such as sewing machines, toolboxes, hair dryers etc, worth millions of shillings, to support members of the Sacco to generate income of which they will be able to reserve savings.

Kintu further told the gathering that Hajjat Hadijah decided to support members to create jobs for income generation that they would after save in the savings accounts & meet their household needs. Several groups of Youth and Women benefited from the capital items.

Kintu asked the locals if they had got PDM funds but 80% of the gathering rejected which prompted him to invite the commercial officer to clarify. The residents responded that the parish chiefs only give the money to wealthy people contrary to the target group of the project.

The ONC spokesperson revealed that the Parish Development Model, one of the government programmes is a vehicle that people of Mayuge must take advantage of to start up Small Business Enterprises to improve livelihoods.

On this, the peasants decried the commercial officer and parish chiefs who instead selectively extend PDM funds to the already well-off citizens. Kintu promised to return and execute a fact-finding exercise based on the lists of the already benefited individuals from last financial year’s PDM allocation of Ugx 100 million.

He also rallied the youth to be vigilant about the skyrocketing HIV/AIDS infections and listen to the wealth creation gospel of HE Yoweri Museveni, adding that HE Museveni’s agenda is to make all Ugandans rich to improve the general standards of living and thus explains several projects put up by the government.

Later in the day, Mr Kintu presided over the distribution of items where several groups of women and Youth earned tools to create wealth and jobs.
