Kampala, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni has entrusted the custodian manager of his Office of the NRM National Chairman in Kyambogo Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo to create a formidable vote protection team that will help safeguard his votes in the forthcoming 2021 presidential elections.

The development comes after Hajjat Namyalo who is also Museveni’s Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs met with the President and National Chairman of the ruling NRM Party today, July 1, 2024, at State House, Nakasero.

A source privy to the Monday meeting told DailyExpress that the President assigned Namyalo the task of ensuring the mistakes of the 2021 elections (when his ballots were stolen especially within the Buganda region) do not happen again come 2026, an indication that the #JajjaTovaKuMain campaign is seemingly coming to a reality.

“While at Kololo in March this year, President Museveni told Hadijah that the Opposition stole his votes in Kampala in the 2021 general Elections, and today, he assigned her a big task of ensuring that there is “no more messing up with his votes, he is tired of people rigging his votes,” the source was quoted speaking on condition of anonymity.

“The President also wants Hadijah to identify the right human resource personnel or the vote protectors who will make sure that all the votes are protected at each and every polling station in Uganda come 2026,” the source added.

According to sources close to the Kyambogo office, the group of personnel she is expected to form will be tasked with the role of supervising the voting exercise at polling stations to see that there is no rigging and also protect declaration forms to ensure the right results are tallied.

The team will also make sure the ballots are not tampered with by stopping those planning to disrupt elections.

The President also used Monday’s meeting to commend SPA Namyalo for the efforts she has put in to empower his Bazzukulu to get themselves out of abject poverty through the ONC empowerment scheme, which he says compliments the existing government programmes such as Emyooga, Parish Development Model (PDM) among others.

The development comes against a backdrop of consecutive meetings between the ONC boss Namyalo and President Museveni, the other coming last Friday, June 28, when she took the regional coordinators for a closed-door meeting with the party chairman at State House Entebbe.
