Woman who cut off husband’s genitals arrested after three weeks

Kamuli, (UG):- The Territorial Police of Kamuli have arrested a 34-year-old woman who attempted to murder her husband by cutting off his genitals and robbing him of cash last month.

Suzan Namuganza who disappeared after committing an offence was arrested today 2nd July 2024 in Buwaga village Bulange sub county Namutumba district where she has been hiding after committing the mentioned offence on the 10th of June 2024 at around 3 o’clock.

Afande Kasadha Michael, the Busoga North police spokesperson Tuesday confirmed the arrest of Namuganza Suzan whom they have been looking for for almost a month and now they are organising the file with enough evidence after they will produce her to courts of law and answer appropriate charges.

“This Morning we arrested Namuganza Suzan from Buwaga village Bulange sub county Namutumba district where she has been hiding and after organising the file with enough evidence we shall produce her to courts of law and answer appropriate charges”; Afande Kasadha said.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Namuganza has been communicating with friends in Busana zone Nabirumba ward, Nabwigulu sub county Kamuli district which helped the relatives and police to track and find her whereabouts.

Upon her arrest, Namuganza Suzan confessed to the act and asked for forgiveness blaming her actions on satan. “Am sorry” Namuganza started. “I was attempted by satan and now I regret what I did”; Namuganza said.

Mr Wilfred Kalende who helped the police to find the suspect said that after finding the home where she was hiding, they informed Kamuli Central Police which cooperated with that of Namutumba to cause her arrest.

“We found out that she was in a place called Buwaga village Bulange sub county Namutumba so we went there this morning and we got to Bulange police post they cooperated we to the place and got her”; said  Mr Kalende.

Mr Kalende also thanked the police for taking action because the community has been on tension that she may come back and cause another event which could be hazardous.

“I am happy because before she was caught there has always been tension within the community hoping that she can come and do another event which could be really hazardous. “You know they own a school so all the time parents have been suspicious that she could come and harm the children. But now that she is got I know even parents are now relived”; he added.

The victim Mr Kawubanya Moses 45, the Director, of Serena Children’s Home resident of Busana zone, Nabirumba ward, Nabwigulu subcounty in Kamuli district thanked the police and other security organs which moved hand in hand with him to get the culprit. He also said that now after arresting the suspect he feels that his life is secured.

“On the said of life, I feel it is now secured, on the side of the children we produced with that lady they also feel secure because they have ever been giving stories about how the mother has been treating them”; Kawubanya said.

Kawubanya who was full of tears said that although he has a permanent scar on his body he continues to look after his children as a single father because he counts his wife dead and asked courts of law to give him justice.

“I count her dead”; Kawubanya started. “I will take care of children even though I have a permanent scar on my body and how I wish the court try her fairly”; he said 

Meanwhile, The RDC Kamuli district Rose Birungi appealed to ladies to end domestic violence against men. “My appeal to all ladies out there is that whenever you’re angry with your husband go to your parent’s home take off some time forget about the anger you have then after you come and settle”; Ms Birungi said.
