Entebbe, (UG):- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tuesday, July 2, welcomed a delegation of investors from Lyca Mobile Telephone Company during their courtesy visit to State House Entebbe.
Led by the Chairman of the company, Mr Subaskaran Allirajah, the delegation included the Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi, and the Executive Director of Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Mr George William Nyombi Thembo.
Mrs. Julianne Mweheire, Director of Industry Affairs and Content Development at UCC, stated that the purpose of the delegation’s visit to State House Entebbe was to express their gratitude to President Museveni for the support provided to the company in launching its services in Uganda.
“Mr. Subaskaran Allirajah, the Chairman of Lyca Mobile, and his delegation visited me at State House Entebbe today. Their dedication to elevating Uganda’s telecom industry is commendable. Enhanced connectivity and digital access nationwide will definitely advance the NRM’s wealth creation agenda,” said Mr Museveni in a Tuesday evening post via X.
Since commencing operations in Uganda in 2022, Lyca Mobile has successfully acquired one million subscribers.
President Museveni conveyed his appreciation for the positive impact of Lyca Mobile’s services in the country and commended the company for its achievements.
Mr. Subaskaran assured the President that they offer cheap services which are affordable to all Ugandans.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Okello Oryem who joined in the discussions.
