Billionaire Keddi to sponsor 500 Muslim Pilgrims to Mecca in 2025

Mbale, (UG):-In a remarkable display of generosity and interfaith unity, Ugandan Billionaire Dr. Steven Keddi, the director of the Keddi Foundation, has pledged to sponsor 500 Muslim believers to travel to Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage in 2025.

The announcement was made during a Thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in Nakaloke in eastern Uganda’s Mbale City.

The event celebrated the successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language by Sheikh Salman Faris, the Imam of Nakaloke Centre Mosque, who was among 100 Muslims previously sponsored by Dr. Keddi to perform the Hajj.

“I welcome all Hajji from Mecca and congratulate them for making it. I am happy that all that happens is not by my power but by the power of God. He just uses me to do so, and we thank Him,” said Dr. Keddi during the ceremony.

He further emphasized that the mission of the Keddi Foundation is to serve humanity without any discrimination based on gender, religion, tribe, or family affiliations.

Hajji Karim Kaliisa, the Managing Director of Salam Charity Uganda and Salam Television, expressed his astonishment and admiration for Dr. Keddi’s commitment, noting that he had never heard of such a large number of sponsored pilgrims since former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir who sponsored 200 pilgrims.

Sheikh Miladu Kaluuma, the Director of Al Hibbah Hijjah and Umrah Tours, also expressed his appreciation for Dr. Keddi’s outstanding humanitarian work and dedication to serving humanity across Africa.

Sheikh Salman, the Imam of Nakaloke Centre Mosque, expressed his gratitude to D. Keddi for the opportunity he granted him to visit the House of Allah.

Mr Muhinda Ali, a staff member at the Keddi Foundation, welcomed all the returning pilgrims and urged them to share their knowledge and experiences with others.

In his concluding remarks, Ali praised Dr. Keddi for his significant impact on the lives of many people in the country and prayed for his continued protection and ability to keep giving generously.

The Keddi Foundation’s pledge to sponsor 500 Muslim pilgrims in 2025 is a testament to the organization’s commitment to promoting interfaith understanding and supporting the spiritual needs of the community.

This generous act is expected to have a profound impact on the lives of the beneficiaries and inspire others to follow in Dr. Keddi’s footsteps of compassion and service.
