Kibuku, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Kibuku District is actively searching for a 60-year-old man who was reportedly kidnapped from his home on the night of July 7th, 2024.

Police identified the victim as Nawota Kungu, a peasant farmer from Kirika village whose suspected kidnap was reported by the elder brother, a 66-year-old Were Dawson, who lives in the same village.

Were reportedly told police that on the night of the incident, around 9 PM, his brother Birege Wilson came to inform him that Kungu was missing. The two brothers then immediately began searching for Kungu but were unable to locate him that night.

The following morning, Were reported the incident to the Kirika Police Station, which is under the jurisdiction of Kibuku Central Police Station.

Police visited the scene, documented evidence, and recorded relevant witness statements. A police dog was also brought in, which tracked a scent leading to the homes of Birege Wilson and Were Dawson, both of whom have been arrested to aid the investigation.

While Kungu has not yet been recovered, police say that some blood drops were collected from the victim’s house and have been placed into evidence. Inquiries are ongoing, and officials state that efforts to find the missing man are “in higher gear.”

The Acting PRO of Bukedi North, SP Semewo Samuel, has urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist the police in locating Nawota Kungu and resolving this kidnapping case.

Police have since taken over the investigation, registering the case under CRB 024/2024.
