Kamuli, (UG):- The Territorial Police of Kamuli are investigating the circumstances under which a 51-year-old man was found dead in an abandoned pit latrine.
The deceased has been identified as Moses Mugowa, resident of Bukapere B, Kasambira Town Council in Kamuli District.
Preliminary findings indicate that on the 08/7/2024 evening, Mugowa went missing, leaving his family restless. Upon making a report at Kasambira police station vide SD REF 7/9/7/2024, his family members and friends started a search until yesterday on 14/7/2024 at around 13:00hrs when his decomposing body was found inside an abandoned pit latrine located at Butuma zone, Kasambira parish, Kasambira town council.
The strange stench near the scene attracted the attention of the community before it was established that it was Mugowa’s body.
The scene was visited by a team of police officers from Cps kamuli. The body was taken to kamuli general hospital mortuary for postmortem, and a death inquiry file was opened at CPS Kamuli.
According to the police spokesperson of Busoga North Afande Kasadha Michael, it is alleged that Mugowa got drunk and could not locate the way to his home.
“It is suspected that the deceased got drunk, could not locate the way to his home, and staggered into an abandoned pit latrine”; Afande Kasadha said.
