VIDEO: Thugs attack, rob Indian businessman in viral video, police speak out

Kampala, (UG):- Police in Kampala are actively investigating a gruesome incident captured on CCTV Camera in which thugs travelling on several boda bodas attacked an Indian businessman in broad daylight and robbed him in broad daylight.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire identified the victim of the attack as Mr Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national and tour and travel company operator based at Crown House in Kampala, Uganda’s city centre and capital.

The incident according to Mr Owoyesigyire happened at Eso Corner in Kampala on Monday at around mid-day when Keshav was attacked by the thugs about 5-7 in number as he travelled on a boda boda in the junction. He (Keshav) would later report the incident at Nkrumah Road Police Station in Kampala.

The CCTV footage shows Mr Keshav on a motorcycle carrying a bag before he was cornered by several riders due to heavy traffic.

“The assailants proceeded to beat and rob him. The stolen items include a laptop valued at UGX 2.2 million, cash amounting to UGX 150,000, an Ecobank debit card, and keys. Fortunately, Mr. Keshav sustained only minor injuries.” Owoyesigyire said in a Tuesday police statement.

He added; “A team of investigators is diligently tracing Mr. Keshav’s movements from the start of his journey to the location of the incident. Numerous clues have been gathered to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.”

The incident comes at a time when the kungfu assailants who had caused widespread fear among people in Kampala over their daring attacks were arrested by police.

A number of suspects involved in these attacks have since been remanded to Luzira as sanity returned to Kampala streets
