In preparation for the 2024 FUFA Super 8 Tournament, Uganda Cranes Assistant Coach, Mr Sam Ssimbwa has named a 29-man squad for the Cranes Select team.
The tournament, sponsored by MTN and Nile Special, will feature the top seven teams from the 2023/2024 Uganda Premier League season, plus the Cranes Select team.
The team will use the tournament to fine-tune their skills and impress the Uganda Cranes technical team, with an eye on breaking into the senior team for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
The tournament is set to kick off on August 2, with the Cranes Select team looking to make a strong impression and secure their spot in the senior team for the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers.
The Cranes Select squad unveiled on Thursday, July 18, comprises local-based players and free agents from outside the participating UPL clubs.
The squad will begin non-residential training on July 23 at the Lugogo MTN Omondi Stadium, with sessions starting at 8:00 am.
The tournament will be played at three venues: Mandela National Stadium-Namboole, St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende, and MTN Omondi Stadium-Lugogo.
