NAIROBI, (KE):- Kenyan President William Ruto Friday announced the nomination of ten (10) cabinet secretaries and a new Attorney General for his government, weeks after the President sacked his entire cabinet over the mass protests.

In a televised address, Ruto announced 11 appointments to what he had promised would be a broad-based unity government and said other nominations would follow soon.

“I’m continuing to take consultations across political divides on the balance of the remaining cabinet. Further consultations are ongoing after which I will announce more names in due course,” said Ruto on Friday afternoon.

“Additionally, I will be issuing clear assignments for the new cabinet next week,” he added.

In some of the notable nominations, President Ruto retained Aden Duale and Kithure Kindiki, his political allies, as Defence and Interior Ministers, respectively alongside Alice Wahome who bounces back as the minister of lands and Soipan Tuya as the environment minister.

Former energy minister Davis Chirchir has been moved to the Transport Ministry while former trade minister Rebecca Miano has been appointed the attorney general.

Ruto also re-appointed Kithure Kindiki as interior minister, Aden Duale as defence minister and Soipan Tuya as environment minister. He also changed the portfolios of two other ministers and brought five new faces including Debra Mulongo (health), Julius Migosi (education), Andrew Karanja (agriculture), Mureithi Miga (water), and Margaret Ndung’u (ICT).
