Man kills 27-year-old wife in heated domestic brawl

Pallisa (UG):- The Territorial Police in Pallisa District are actively hunting for a runaway husband who disappeared after allegedly killing his 27-year-old wife in a domestic-related fight.

Balinabyo Brenda, 27, was found dead in her home in Pallisa Town Council, Pallisa District with her husband identified as Bumba James pinned as the prime suspect in this horrific murder.

Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Samuel Semewo confirmed the incident which was reported to local police by the LC1 Chairperson of Bwata B Cell, Kagwese Ward, Safu Abasa after discovering Balinabyo’s lifeless body in her matrimonial bed on the morning of Friday, July 19, 2024, around 7:00 AM.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Balinabyo and Bumba had been married for six years, but their relationship was plagued by domestic violence. The police learned that the deceased had previously brought a child from another man to marry Bumba, which had been a source of constant suspicion and conflict in their marriage.

“Reliable sources have indicated that the two have been in a tumultuous relationship, with the husband constantly suspecting his wife of having an affair with her former partner,” SP Semewo said.

Police further discovered and retrieved the murder weapon, a knife from a neighbour’s toilet, approximately 50 meters away from the couple’s residence.

Semewo said statements have been recorded from witnesses, and the case has been registered under CRB 300/2024. He called upon community members to give in information which can lead to the suspect’s arrest to have him accountable for his actions.

“We are calling upon the community members to come forward with any information that could aid in the apprehension of the suspect, Bumba James, who is currently at large,” said SP Semewo.

Meanwhile, the lifeless body of Balinabyo has been transported to the Pallisa General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, as the investigation into this tragic incident continues.
