Mubende, (UG):- Authorities in central Uganda’s Mubende District are holding a local church minister arrested over the alleged murder of his own one-year-old under unclear circumstances.

Pastor Alex Mugisha of Prophecy Pentecostal Church confessed to the police that he committed the heinous act against his child, Samuel Niyokusiima.

Mugisha was arrested immediately after committing the horrific act of killing his own toddler, Samuel Niyokusiima after he was discovered by his wife, Mediya Mukanohere, who found him attempting to flee their home.

“When he saw me, he tried to run away and when I entered the room, I found my son in a pool of blood, his neck severed,” Mukanohere said.

The wife further revealed that her husband had been mistreating her and attempting to evict her from their home, despite their previously stable life together with their eight children.

The scene was grisly, with Mugisha covered in blood both his son’s and his own creating a nightmarish image that would unsettle even the most hardened of observers.

Pastor Mugisha attributed his actions to psychological issues. ‘Yes, I killed but I was attacked by psychological challenges and I also went to the hospital but it wasn’t my intention to kill him and I’m sorry for that,” he said.

In response to the shocking crime, residents of Kanseera expressed growing concern over the proliferation of born-again churches in the area and called for government intervention to address the issue and prevent similar incidents in the future.
