Kampala, (UG):- Lenina ‘Nina’ Mbabazi, the daughter of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and her husband Mr Philip Rukikaire have reportedly been appointed as new envoys to the Ugandan Embassy in Canada, just days after Joy Ruth Acheng’s deportation.
The Canadian government declared Ms Acheng a persona non grata and ordered her immediate return to Uganda after involving in a street protest letter with unwelcoming behaviour together with her immediate family members.
Now according to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nina’s husband Rukikaire, son of former Minister for Privatization Mathew Rukikaire is set to take over as the new High Commissioner at the Uganda House in Canada while his wife will serve as the First Secretary.
Both Mbabazi and Rukikaire were active members of the external wing of the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M) that ushered in Mr Yoweri Museveni into power.
The two were tasked with recruitment and resource mobilization for the rebellion.
The appointing authority was yet to issue an official statement regarding this appointment by press time.
