Kampala, (UG):- Thousands of Bazzukulu from various parts of the Kampala Metropolitan Wednesday gathered at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC-Kyambogo) to protest against a purported transition looming in political circles aimed at forcing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni out of power ahead of 2026 general elections.
The Bazzukulu who stormed ONC offices on Wednesday morning argue that it’s not yet the right time for President Museveni to step down as he still has a lot to accomplish in his “manifesto.” The furious youths were welcomed by ONC manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo aka Chief Muzzukulu who promised to deliver their message to the President immediately.
To further amplify their message, the youths joined Hajjat Namyalo at the launch of a new campaign dubbed “Say No to a Forceful Transition” aimed at giving President Museveni a chance to fulfil pledges of the 2021-2026 electoral term.”
The youths led by Kawempe Division ghetto youth representative Moses Banalekaki argued that “a forceful transition will not be accepted because the current regime recognizes the ghetto community.”
“As ghetto youths, we do not believe in forceful transition. As ghetto youth, we have been supported through the informal sector with different skilling initiatives. We have been allocated funds in all government projects starting with Parish Development Model, Emyooga and Youth Lively hood fund,” Banalekaki vowed.
Another furious Muzzukulu from the ghetto hoods of Kampala bitterly said; ”We know very well that you are our boss since you are the Chief Muzzukulu, with due respect madam please we need you to join this war of stopping Museveni our beloved Jajja from stepping down. We can’t allow that man to rest before fulfilling his pledges. We still demand him a lot.”
The Ghetto youths were joined by Kyambogo University guild presidential aspirant Claire Atuhaire who said Museveni should stay in power since his government supports women.
”Dear our chief muzzukulu these youths you see here also want you to officially launch their hashtag dubbed ”NyokoTransition”, to them this is nonsense, they don’t want to hear that Museveni is going, going where, did he elect himself? We gave him our votes and we are still ready to vote for him in 2026, it’s us to let him go, so madam please we are telling all those calling for a transition that ‘Nyoko Transition’, no to transition and forget transition,” she said.
Isaac Suubi, another student from Kyambogo University said: “During Museveni‘s regime, we have realised free education starting with Universal Primary Education, Universal Secondary Education and University Bursaries, and student loans.”
But he encouraged the government to prioritize addressing challenges faced by youths, especially unemployment.
Hajjat Namyalo in her remarks praised the determination of the youths, stating that for years, people have attacked Museveni’s stable leadership in an effort to push him out of power. She emphasized that a forced transition would not be accepted
“We are here to clarify, standing our ground that Jajja is still on main,” she assured the Bazzukulu. ”I am happy that you have joined this good cause of keeping our Jajja at work, this is the war I have been fighting for the last couple of years.”
“Museveni has been our hero, he has done a lot but still we need more and that’s why we have been saying Tova Ku Main now we are saying stay on the ballot 2026 and beyond,” she added, emphasizing that “Jajja is a true definition of a good listener, a grandchild can only cry for a grandmother. This is for the good of Ugandans and we shall overwhelming going to vote Jajja come 2026.”
According to Namyalo, the transition to power will only bring in self-seekers who will not be concerned with the youth grievances. She further claimed that several ongoing government projects would collapse if Museveni left power.
“We cannot allow forceful transition at this moment when we have started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We have hope in this regime, and we are sure everything will be fixed,” she said.
Asked why and the reason behind the new hashtag #NyokoTransition, Hajjat Namyalo said the bazzukulu requested her to launch it because they have the right to demand what they deserve from the President.
”These youths have told me that they haven’t benefited from Emyooga and PDM, they still need a good education, security and many others and say the only person to fulfil all they need is Museveni, therefore they are joining millions of Ugandans to say no to transition, no to early retirement because our President is very young, why should we allow him go retire with all that energy and wisdom he has, all those shouting at us with transition we are telling them, ”NyokoTransition, that’s our hashtag now,” Namyalo assured.
At the same function, Ali Katerega, a self-proclaimed opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) councillor for Masaka City pledged to support Museveni in the 2026 presidential elections. “We are ready to campaign for Museveni because we have realised the truth and we have hope that the current government is ready to work with the youth,” he said.
