Adjumani, (UG):- The former Adjumani District Woman Member of Parliament, the Hon Late Eriyo Jesca’s legacy has been celebrated with a memorial week which culminated into a long list of activities ending on Saturday 31st August 2024.
The memorial prayers held at her home in Mgbwere village, Central Parish Adjumani Town Council attracted thousands of leaders in Adjumani, notable of whom included the Principal CAO Adjumani, Sister Vicky Opia, Rev Canon Baka Solomon of the Anglican faith, the clan chief of Anyuropi among others.
The long week programs started with Prayers and birthday celebrations for the late, Tree planting, keeping Adjumani town clean, Health camp which took place at Adjumani Mission Health Three which attracted over 500 patients, friendly match played between Radio Amani staff and Ma’di local artist which ended all in 1:1 draw and the event was wrapped up on Saturday 31/08/2024 with the memorial prayers at her home in Mgbwere village.
The local council three representative Hon Andaku Bosco who also doubles as the secretary for health Adjumani town council who spoke on behalf of the LC3 lamented that during the lifetime of the late Hon. Jesca Eriyo, she used to be a visionary mother with a good heart towards humanity and nature and fought a good fight for nature. “She wanted a green environment in the community and protection of nature was her priority in her lifetime” he added.
The Managing Director of Radio Amani Mr Mawa Moses applauded the continuous and endless love and support the people in Adjumani district have towards his sister and said that the body lies in the grave at the backyard but actually the spirit is with the Lord in heaven.
“The memorial week was established between him and the son of the late Dr Asisi Daniel to celebrate the legacy she left behind” he added.
Dr Asisi Daniel thanked the people for the love they have shown towards her late mother during her lifetime and also in her death. “This year’s scripture was picked from the book of Isaiah and spoke about togetherness and love for one another,” he said.
The long-week program was dubbed as “Eriyo Jesca Memorial Week”, this program was organized by Jesca Eriyo Foundation and Radio Amani 89.1Fm.
The Jesca Eriyo Memorial Week is an event that takes place yearly in remembrance of the legacy of Hon late Eriyo Jesca. This event is being organized by Jesca Eriyo Foundation and Radio Amani which was founded by the Son Dr Daniel Asisi and her brother Mr. Mawa Moses who also doubles as the managing director of Radio Amani 89.1fm.
Jesca Eriyo Foundation was founded in 2023 with its main programmes cutting across health, education, Peace, development and the environment.
Hon Late Eriyo Jesca was the former women Member of Parliament for Adjumani district and state minister for environment as well as elected the deputy secretary for East African Community (EAC). Her love for Development, Education, Peace, Health and the Environment has inspired many lives of people in Uganda and she left her legacy in the hearts of many. May Her soul continue to rest in perfect peace.
