Kibuku, (UG):- The Archbishop of Tororo Most Rev Dr. Emmanuel Obbo has urged the congregation to abandon any “other gods” and embrace a singular devotion to the Almighty God.

“You cannot serve two masters,” Bishop Obbo proclaimed, referencing the Gospel of Matthew (6:24), “For you will hate one and love the other, or you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

The Archbishop during a powerful sermon delivered during a confirmation ceremony for over 1,251 candidates at St. Maria Gorreti Catholic Church, Kibuku on Thursday emphasized that the path to salvation and a true relationship with God requires undivided loyalty, emphasizing that “one cannot walk two roads at the same time and reach the same destination.”

His message resonated with the newly confirmed Catholics, signifying their commitment to following the teachings of Christ and adhering to the tenets of the Catholic faith.

Obbo further urged the congregation to reject societal pressures that encourage altering their God-given beauty, stating, “God created you in his own image, and you are perfect just as you are.” This sentiment echoed the passage in Genesis (1:27) which says “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

The Bishop’s message also resonated with the importance of self-acceptance and valuing the unique beauty bestowed by the Creator. He cautioned against succumbing to the pressures of altering one’s appearance through bleaching and excessive makeup, highlighting the intrinsic beauty inherent in God’s creation.

He reechoed a powerful reminder of the importance of choosing a singular path of devotion to God and embracing the beauty of God’s creation in all its natural forms.

The confirmation ceremony was a momentous occasion for the newly confirmed, marking a significant step in their faith journey.
