Lira City education boss Jasper Abura perishes in Soroti highway road crash

Lira, (UG):- Authorities in Lira City have confirmed the untimely demise of Dr Jasper Abura, the City’s Education Officer who tragically passed away in a road accident at Adwila along the Lira -Soroti Highway in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Abura, 53 years old, a resident of Lira City is said to have died on the spot after the car vehicle registration number LG0001123 crashed at around 1 am on their way from Soroti side, towards Lira City.

According to North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson S .P. Jimmy Patrick Okema, it is alleged that when the motor vehicle registration number LG0001123 reached Adwila, it collided with a yet-to-be-identified trailer, which was coming from Lira City, going to Soroti.

“The driver of the LG is believed to have lost control, went off the road and overturned about five meters away from the road. The two occupants, that’s the driver and the passenger, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Lira Regional referral hospital,” Okema said.

 Okema added that the scene was visited this morning to ascertain what happened. The body was picked up and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending post-mortem, while the vehicle is still at the scene, pending to be towed to Lira City CPS for IOV inspection.

The driver, Okello Jacob, 39 years old and Emmanuel Komakech, Town Clerk for Lira City West Division who were in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and are currently admitted and receiving treatment at the same facility

Lillian Ocare, the deputy town clerk of Lira City mourned Abura’s demise as tragic for Lira City Council and DailyExpress that the burial program would be presented later to the public.
