Kampala, (UG):- The magnificent Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo yesterday (Saturday) successfully hosted the Uganda Law Society Annual General Meeting and Presidential Elections as city lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde emerged winner on the afternoon.
The centre, popularly known for hosting high-level international events including the recent NAM and China-77 Summits was the centre of the highly publicised society’s presidential seat as Ssemakadde trounced his only challenger Isaac Atukunda with a huge margin of votes, 2101 against 898 respectively.
At least 2,999 lawyers cast their votes during the ULS Annual General Meeting at Speke Resort, Munyonyo on September 28, 2024.
The Convention Centre at Munyonyo has recently hosted the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Symposium for Regulators in July 2024, an event that brought together over 900 delegates from around the world, including regulators, industry leaders, and experts in the telecommunications sector.
The Convention Centre, which was commissioned at the beginning of 2024 has previously hosted several high-profile events, including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit, the Group of 77 (G77) Summit, and the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo among other high-level meetings.
