Ugandans urged against defamation at 3rd NRM Canada Symposium

Ottawa, (CA):- Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama has officially opened the 3rd NRM Canada Chapter Symposium held at the Ottawa Conference and Events Centre.

During the opening of the event, the minister emphasized the significance of the symposium in sharpening the future of the NRM party, and its relationship with the diaspora. She informed the participants that the gathering aimed at mobilizing Ugandans in the diaspora (Canada); encouraging them to support the transformation of Uganda.

Hon Nakadama added that this would benefit the country in several ways, increase Uganda’s remittances from abroad, attract more tourists and increase Foreign Direct Investment (FDI); these will strongly contribute to a significant step toward achieving the country’s Vision 2040.

She further assured the diaspora that the NRM government was committed to supporting the people in the Diaspora, to lead fruitful and dignified lives in their countries and urged them, to restrain from the misrepresentation and defamation being spread against Uganda by bad political elements.

She assured them that the NRM government was ready to work with every Ugandan irrespective of their political affiliation, and thus, called upon them to support the continuity of the mighty NRM Party and Vote in big numbers for H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni come 2026.

Hon Nakadama thanked H. E. the President of the Republic of Uganda for his continuous support of this event every year and commended him for his dedicated leadership.

The Minister for Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, called upon everyone to support the efforts of the NRM government, under the wise leadership of H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni by advancing a positive image of the NRM government and providing a strong case for continued service of the people of Uganda. 

She thanked the Diaspora for promoting the NRM ideology, especially the pillar of social-economic transformation, which has seen several investors flocking into Uganda to establish businesses and enterprises.

She commended the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama Isanga, for her commitment To supporting the NRM symposium. 

In conclusion, Hon Babalanda called upon the Diaspora to mobilise strongly for H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda, come the 2026 presidential elections.

Also in attendance at the opening of the symposium was Uganda’s State Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge of Children and Youth Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, Senior Presidential Advisors; Hon. Sam Engola and Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi and the Secretary Presidential Awards Committee, Hajjat Zamina Malole Baluku, as well as, a team from State House, among others.
