Budaka, (UG):- In a heartfelt address to the community at Masjid Uthuman Bin Afan, Budaka District Woman Member of Parliament aspirant Namutamba Stella Namuloki urged the people of Irabi to place their trust in her candidacy.
She emphasized the importance of sustainable development, stating, “I will give you hooks, not fish,” highlighting her commitment to empowering the community rather than offering temporary relief.
Namutamba’s message resonated with many attendees as she outlined her vision to bridge the gap between leaders and voters, a relationship she believes has been neglected during election cycles. “Leaders often think of their constituents only during elections,” she said, calling for more consistent engagement.
She pointed out the challenges faced by the youth in Budaka, promising to support initiatives in talent development, particularly in football and music. “Our young people have dreams and ambitions that deserve to be nurtured,” she stated, stressing that investment in youth is crucial for the future of the district.
Addressing the pressing issue of land use, Namutamba urged the government to provide alternatives for families occupying swamps, advocating for a humane approach to land management. “We cannot simply tell people to leave without offering them viable options,” she asserted.
Namutamba expressed her concerns regarding the lack of accountability among elected leaders in Budaka. “It makes one wonder if we even have leaders. Those in power rarely return to check on those who voted for them,” she lamented.
She criticized the apparent neglect of Budaka compared to other regions that have received funding and resources for development. “Why is it that our district has been overlooked?” she asked, echoing the frustrations of many constituents.
She also encouraged parents to prioritize education for their children, emphasizing that education is key to breaking the cycle of illiteracy. “Let us work together to ensure our children are in school. This is how we can build a brighter future,” Namutamba concluded.
As the election season approaches, Namutamba Stella Namuloki’s platform is gaining traction among the voters of Budaka, promising a shift from short-term solutions to sustainable development. Her appeal for “hooks” over “fish” serves as a powerful metaphor for her commitment to long-lasting change in Budaka District.
Among those vying for the same position in the upcoming elections are Sarah Kataike Ndoboli, Kataike Noel, and the incumbent Nasio Pamela, along with others yet to declare their candidacy. This competitive landscape sets the stage for a dynamic election ahead, as constituents weigh their options for the future of Budaka District.
