Kampala, (UG):- Ugandan Musician David Lutalo is set to hold his dream concert celebrating 15 years of the music journey on 8th November 2024 at Kampala Serena Hotel, the singer’s record label management has confirmed.
Lutalo was supposed to perform at the place on 27th, January 2024 but the concert was postponed due to the Non-Allied Movement(NAM) and G77 summits that took place in Kampala, forcing the management to choose a date in November for the concert.
Speaking at a press conference he held at Serena Hotel on Tuesday 8th, October 2024, Lutalo and his team said the preparations for the November 2024 concert are in high gear and said that the tickets that his fans had bought for the January concert are still valid for the event.
“Those who had purchased tickets for the Babongoote concert should take them to the places where the November concerts are being sold. The people there will scan them and give them new ones,” Lutalo said, adding that the VIP concert is a thanksgiving event for his fans, supporters and business partners who have supported him as he marks 15 years in the local music industry
“I will be making 15 years in the Ugandan music industry. Its a huge milestone and this concert is a thanksgiving event for the support that my fans have done for all those years,” he said
Lutalo however said that he will not be allowing live streaming of his event because it will prevent the public from attending the event
“What is the use of organizing this event if it’s going to be streamed by bloggers and the public for free? I therefore say that live streaming of the show on social media platforms will not be allowed because I want only those that have paid their money to watch the show,” he added
Veteran singer Mesach Semakula said that he that the 15 years of David Lutalo’s concert is a must-attend event because he is one of the most authentic and talented singers of this generation
“Despite being talented, disciplined and hard-working, Lutalo is also a music legend, whose music has stood the taste of time,” he said
Local music promoter Alfonse Mukasa of Bajjo Events gave the singers shs. 2 million on camera in appreciation of David Lutalo for always supporting his music events
“In 2009, David Lutalo agreed to perform at one of my concerts for free. I had had sh.200,000 and he agreed to come and perform for that amount of money. Because of that, I am supporting him with sh.2 million,” he said
Other artistes who agreed to support him are Shakira Shakira, Cooler Man and other entertainers.
