Mbale, (UG):- The Umukuka of the Bamasaba cultural institution (Inzu yamasaba), His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma is slated to tour all schools in Masabaland this year.
The development was confirmed by Mr Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of Inzu Yamasaba as he accompanied the Umukuka on an inaugural visit to Nyondo Senior Secondary last Friday, October 11, 2024.
Mr Masiga while speaking to DailyExpress, said Nyondo SS is the first secondary to be visited by His Highness the Umukuka and we intend to move in all Schools in Masabaland whether Government or private, primary or secondary including universities
The intention, according to Mr Masiga is to encourage Bamasaba to make use of learning opportunities available as provided by the Government.
“We shall give education tips to learners and teachers including talking to them to distance themselves from any negativities that militate against learning such as the use of prohibited substances, like narcotics as a cultural institution we are listened to very well and we shall use our space to bring down anything inimical to learning,” Mr Masiga concluded.
The Umukuka who had visited the school at the invitation of the Headteacher Mr Dismus Wandulu encouraged the students to each plant a tree in their homes as a way of conserving the environment.
He also encouraged the learners to always deworm themselves and prayed for the success of all learners during the forthcoming UCE and UACE exams slated for October and November.
“We shall also use such platforms to outline circumcision timetables so that those who are in school know that they are not left out of the imbalu time,” the Umukuka remarked.
he added; “There are school times and imbalu times, usually the timetable for those in school is December for every even year for circumcision and non-school-going candidates are in August of every even year.”
The Umukuka was clothed with roles such as encouraging his people to participate in Government programs, family tips and general Development agenda
The Headmaster Nyondo SS, Mr. Wandulu Dismus said visits like this are necessary and umukuka should tour schools around Masabaland as a way of inspiring the young
