Kampala, (UG):- The Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Namirembe, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde is dead, DailyExpress confirms.
Balagadde died Monday evening at Kisubi Hospital where he had been admitted following an ailment according to the Namirembe Diocese Fathers Union.
“On a sad note, we announce the terrible news of the sudden death of Bishop Emeritus the Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde the 4th Bishop of our Diocese. May his soul rest in peace,” a social media post posted by the Diocease’s official X handle read on Monday night.
Rev Balagadde was the fourth Bishop of Namirembe Diocese from 1994 to 2009 and was replaced by Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira.
The Emeritus Bishop served the church for over 50 years and during his leadership, he encouraged reverends to undertake self-help projects to develop and have a source of income.
