Two including Indian killed as gas cylinder explodes in Kampala

Kampala, (UG):- The Police at Katwe Division in Kampala on Thursday, October 17, 2024, responded to a tragic incident involving a suspected negligence act that led to the deaths of two individuals including an Indian national.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. at Sembule A, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division, a Kampala urban suburb.

Preliminary reports indicate that Andrajt Baraya, an Indian national, and one Amos, a Ugandan national, were operating an oxygen plant during their day shift when a gas cylinder exploded, resulting in their immediate deaths.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy Police Spokesperson in Kampala Metropolitan said Police and experts Thursday launched an investigation into the explosion’s circumstances and are working to determine its cause. We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.

 “We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding this unfortunate event” SP Owoyesigyire said.
