Facts gathered indicate that on October 18, 2024, around midday, a local named only as Magola, was grazing his father’s cows when he stumbled upon the lifeless body, and quickly alerted nearby villagers, who then notified the authorities.

Kamunyenye Abbas, a 50-year-old resident of the same area, was one of the first to report the incident to the police. “It was shocking to find a body lying in the bush like that,” Abbas stated, adding; “We are all in disbelief and concerned for our safety.”

Responding to the report, the police arrived promptly at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body of the deceased was retrieved and transported to Budaka Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.

According to preliminary police findings, it is alleged that the victim may have been lynched by an angry mob, although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The police have urged anyone with information about the events leading up to the man’s death to come forward.

“We are committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident,” said SP Semewo Samuel, the Acting Public Relations Officer for Bukedi North.

“Inquiries are ongoing, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

As the community awaits further details from the authorities, local leaders have expressed their concern over the rising incidents of violence in the area and are calling for increased safety measures to protect residents.
