Soaring higher; succeeding where others have failed

By Mukonyezi Steven Akiiki

There are questions which seem funny, but they are a real deal to motivation. These are the questions which you may not have had experience with, or you have just never taken a keen interest in deeply trying to understand them. You may have deemed them irrelevant or thought that they have got nothing to do with you.

Have you ever asked yourself, “What has failure got to do with me?” The feeling that you are far from getting poor results in something is a motivation in itself. It can help you to keep a distance from destruction and negative energy or forces.

One major question commonly asked by young people is, “Can we really succeed where our parents failed or have failed?” This should draw your attention to whether success and failure are inherited or are a choice. There are many, if not most of the rich people who have always confessed to having had painful stories before their successes. Some of them say that they had poor backgrounds while others say that they were neglected by their parents, some of whom were wealthy. Step-parents and family wrangles are also factors for their humble beginnings they say.

Such testimonies should help the young people realize the importance of the message President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has always emphasized. He has always emphasized doing subsistence and commercial farming concurrently. Unfortunately, some people have not responded to his call over the years. These are the people who have remained in subsistence farming only.

Let not your poor background affect your development. Being richer than your parents were is not criminal. It is actually just a change in the long-standing alarming way of life of your family. Do not allow yourself to suffer from your parents’ mistakes and poverty. You are not the one who caused it, though you were/are one of the consumers of the yields of their efforts.

Do not forget the importance of hard work. Your efforts are paid off depending on how much dedication you get. You need to change your situation. Do not look back as you push on with the journey to a better life. Your family members, friends or people around you may have failed somewhere, but you do not have to fail too. Correct their mistakes and aim at achieving bigger every day.

NB: Stop working for ‘ekida kyonka’ (for the stomach only), work for the pocket too (having some money in your pocket.
