Is social media the biggest contributor to moral decadence?

Every day that comes, society continues to get rotten in various ways. Cultural, traditional, academic and spiritual values are being eroded by either modernity or lack of proper parental guidance. From what is being done, heard or watched on different media platforms, we can tell that something is not right. We can also predict what the society might look like in the near future. Has this brought to you a question about where people might have got it wrong?

Bob Keeshan in his quote says,” Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent.” Here, conclusions and judgements on whether a child’s moral decay is as a result of poor upbringing or influence from what they watch can be made.

By the way, the society in which we are living does not consider the majors, it considers the minors. People may not look at the role of the parent in the child’s rightful moral upbringing, but it is very easy to look at media influence on the child. The evidence of this is the attachment of the bad vices to modernity. So, modernity gets branded with moral decay, not the improvement and easing of life.

Let us also note that in the absence of control or regulation of public communication, media is awash with obscene, educative and motivational content. What is surprising is that blogs with vulgar or even obscene language trend more than educative and motivational blogs. This insinuates excitement which eventually leads to messes.

Because of excitement and public pressure, politicians have also found themselves being trapped in coerced exchanges in which bad words are used. Being on a particular platform, it quickly spreads like wildfire hence the public being forced to inevitably get involved with comments. The language used in the online rants may not be appropriate because of emotions.

As a matter of fact, though somebody may be brought up in a certain way, social media can influence him/her into changing behaviour because of personal, not family weaknesses. It is therefore very important to have self-control over what can make you excited. Do not be easily swayed or carried away. Keep your dignity.

Block public embarrassment by avoiding social media taking much of your time. Get impacted positively by reading, or writing a book or article. Moral decay is very close to you.
