Kampala, (UG):- The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) has released a lineup of activities that will be held during the 6th edition of the annual arts and cultural festival
The festival will be held under the theme “My Culture My Identity.” and will take place at the National Theatre Kampala on 1st and 2nd November 2024.
According to UNCC Public Relations officer Mr Musiitwa Robert, the festival aims to promote Ugandan culture, highlighting the vibrant link between culture and tourism in alignment with UNCC’s mission to uplift Ugandan heritage both locally and internationally.
“The festival will provide a platform to celebrate the depth and diversity of Uganda’s cultural landscape, inviting Art and Culture professionals, enthusiasts, and stakeholders to gather, network, and showcase their creative work.,” he said in a statement
He further said that the event emphasizes community development through cultural exchange and opens doors for economic empowerment, particularly among women and youth, within Uganda’s creative industries.
“Festival-goers will experience a variety of live performances including stage bands, drama acts, and Uganda’s finest artists like Nandujja and the Planets, Matia Luyima, Saida Nakakawa, Coco Finger Khalifa Aganaga, and Sewanyana. Regional cultural troupes from different parts of Uganda, such as the Abasoga Bakoberana from Obwakyabazinga and the Alur Cultural Troupe from West Nile, will showcase traditional dances, giving audiences a glimpse into Uganda’s regional cultural diversity,” he said .
The festival is free of charge, making it accessible to all Ugandans and international visitors.
