How Gen Mega Dee transformed from being a musician to a US certified medical doctor

Ugandan singer Gen Mega Dee, born Amos Kigenyi, has reached an extraordinary milestone he’s now a certified doctor in the United States. Known for his music career in the 2000s, the former musician has traded the stage for scrubs, officially earning the title of “Doctor.”

Gen Mega Dee’s journey toward this achievement began in 2017 when he relocated to the U.S. with a new ambition: to build a healthcare career.

Starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, which he completed in 2021, he didn’t stop there. He continued his studies, earning further qualifications that now allow him to practice as a doctor.

The singer-turned-doctor shared the exciting news on social media, writing, “Today! 10/30/2024, I am officially DR. KIGENYI AMOS after completing all academic requirements with distinction! IT HAS BEEN GOD, FAMILY, DISCIPLINE, AND HARD WORK.”

Once a household name in Uganda’s music scene, Gen Mega Dee was known for hits like “Obudde,” “Woman Of My Life,” “Ngawalaba,” and “Ina Di Dance.”

His impressive career shift marks a new chapter in his life, showing that it’s never too late to pursue a dream and make a difference in a completely new field.
