Iganga police won the tournament with a win of 2-0 against Bugiri police and were awarded a trophy and Shs200,000 while Bugiri was awarded Shs200,000. In the netball, Iganga won and they were awarded Shs.200,000 from the NRM chairperson for Iganga district Hajj Abubakar Walubi who was the chief guest.

Busoga East Regional Police Commander ACP Norman Musinga told DailyExpress that the tournament was aimed at showing the public that police are part of the community and they saw that people are more attracted to sports than calling a meeting, and promised to organize tournaments annually.

“We have organized the football tournament to demonstrate to the public that the police are part of the community. We want to avoid that image that police are not part of the public and these sports activities help to bring people together and we can get information from them,” ACP Musinga said.

He added that police are not only concerned with arresting and investigating crime but also have a role to interact with the community and have everlasting solutions to the challenges in fighting crimes in the region.

“We shall continue organizing such and this will help us select a team that will play at the national level against teams from other regions in the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Cup.” “Still, we shall play with other community teams and later bring a corporate league,” RPC Norman Musinga emphasized.

Hajj Abubakar Walubi vying for the LCV seat for Iganga district pledged to continue supporting sports activities in the district as well as activities of police which are aimed at promoting law and order in the community.
