Kampala, (UG):- Government of Uganda has given 146 motorbikes to all the cities and districts across the country to facilitate the implementation of the World Bank-funded Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) project.
The Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi handed over the motorcycles to the GROW focal point persons at a function held Tuesday 5th November at the ministry’s main boardroom in Kampala.
The motorcycles, according to the minister are intended to support the implementation to ensure timely and convenient monitoring and supervision of the project activities.
Hon Amongi urged the focal point persons to use the motorcycles for the designated purpose to mobilize, facilitate and supervise the implementation of the GROW project targeting women in small and medium entrepreneurs.
“We want to ensure that micro, small and medium businesses are provided with the necessary facilitations in the form of skills, capital which are affordable and certification of their products so that their businesses grow,” she emphasized.
GROW is the government of Uganda initiative that arose out of the need to respond to the needs of women entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses, sustain their self-employment and create more jobs.
The Project development objective is to increase access to entrepreneurial services that enable female entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises in targeted locations including in refugee hosting districts.
